✨ In Ms. Davidson’s 5th grade, students compared and contrasted Mayan and Incan myths! ✨ They discovered how both civilizations used stories to explain the world, but with unique twists—Maya myths highlighted cycles of creation and clever hero twins, while Inca myths focused on the Sun God, Inti, and the divine origins of their leaders. 🌞🌽

Our 6th graders are diving deep into their reading! Using text evidence, citations, and paraphrasing, they’re sharpening their comprehension skills while exploring a powerful text on yellow fever. Critical thinking, literacy, and history—all in one lesson!

Ms. Cade’s 3rd graders had a blast today with a Scoot game to get ready for their Topic One science assessment! 🐾🦋🐠 They showed off their knowledge of animal classification while having fun moving and learning together! 🎉

Connected for a Cause 💚🐾 Today our Panthers dressed down to show their love of sports while raising funds for the SDIRC Scholarship Fund. School spirit + community support = a winning team!

👀👂👃👅✋ Kindergarten explored the Five Senses during S/CORE Day on Monday! Our youngest Panthers became little scientists today—using sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch to make discoveries about the world around them. From scents to sounds and textures, they learned how our senses help us explore, learn, and make connections. 🌎✨

Ms. Beal’s class put their compare-and-contrast skills to the test with a frog scavenger hunt! Students explored the fascinating similarities and differences between tree frogs and poison dart frogs—learning has never been this ribbiting!” 🐸✨

Our 3rd grade Literacy Lab launched today with Mrs. Carroll leading the way! She turned literacy strategies and test-taking skills into fun, engaging activities that kept students motivated and excited to learn.

Ms. Davidson’s 5th graders have been hard at work adding text features to their Early American Civilizations codexes! Students are enhancing their writing by including images and captions to support and deepen their texts.

Mrs. Zwemer’s third graders are jotting SNOTS “small notes on the side” to brainstorm what belongs in their web about amphibians. 🐸📚

Third graders in Ms. Zwemer’s class are sharpening their comprehension skills by using the SNOTS (small notes on the side) reading strategy. As they read, students jot down quick thoughts, questions, and connections in the margins to help them dig deeper into the text. 📚✏️

Our 1st graders wrapped up their Human Body unit in a big way! 🫀🧠💪 Students created their very own 3-D body system model to showcase their learning. To bring it to life, we’ll be adding personalized QR codes with recordings of students explaining their creations—sharing their knowledge in their own voices! 🎤✨

More 2nd Grade S/CORE Day fun! 🎉 After reading the Chinese folktale The Magic Paintbrush, students painted what they would create if they could use art to help the world 🌎. Then, after exploring Grandfather Tang’s Story, they put their problem-solving skills to work by creating and solving puzzles with geometric tangrams! ✨🖌️

Chinese New Year S/CORE Day in 2nd Grade Second graders celebrated Chinese New Year with bright traditions and festive learning! The color red, a symbol of good fortune and happiness, is central to the holiday. Homes are decorated with beautiful red paper cutouts and messages of good wishes, while children often receive red envelopes filled with coins to bring luck for the new year. To bring the tradition to life, each student received a necklace with a good luck coin and created their own red paper decorations to spread happiness and prosperity. 🎉🧧

Ms. Britner’s 1st graders wrapped up their “Human Body” unit by exploring how different food groups fuel our bodies. 🍕🍎🍗🥕🥦 From protein to produce, food never looked sooo good!

Our fifth graders have been busy exploring charges and static electricity! They investigated how electrons move and transfer, discovering firsthand what makes objects attract or repel. ⚡️
